Test Bench Control System
The Borghi & Saveri automation and control system, developed with Alma Automotive, is a centralized platform for data acquisition, control and supervision designed to manage the entire test cell. It ensures repeatability, safety and data consistency, integrating all test cell auxiliary systems, from dynamometers to auxiliary devices and sensors.
- Automated testing: higher operational efficiency.
- Standardization: replication of test conditions for comparable reports.
- Reliable data: accuracy ensured throughout the entire measurement chain.
National Instruments technology enables real-time code implementation from Simulink® and LabVIEW® models, ensuring precision, determinism and process synchronization.
Ideal for high‑performance testing applications, dynamic control and engine calibration with full ECU integration.
A single automation system for controlling the entire test cell.
More precision, less complexity.
Data acquisition and post processing
- Acquisition of analog and digital signals with control loop frequencies up to 1 kHz, including Real‑Time calculated channels.
- Native integration with all major automotive and industrial communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Ethernet, XCP, iLinkRT, RS232, RS485).
- Signal generation through analog outputs, digital outputs and fieldbuses for transmitting setpoints and configurations to test cell auxiliary systems.
- Automated post‑processing and reporting, compatible with Matlab®, LabVIEW®, DIAdem®, Wintax®, INCA MDA® and other industry‑standard software, supporting advanced analysis, quality control and test strategy development.
Test data can be integrated with company information systems, enabling traceability, data sharing and availability of information throughout the entire process, allowing access to applicable tax incentives.
Test cell control and automation
- Integrated local and remote management of all test cell subsystems: dynamometer, ventilation systems, fuel supply, fluid conditioning units, electrical systems, safety systems, sensors and actuators.
- Direct control via Real‑Time PID or indirect control via fieldbuses.
- Manual, semi‑automatic and automatic operating modes, with support for preconfigured cycles and conditional logic.
Integration with ECU and external tools
The system interfaces with ECU calibration tools such as ETAS INCA®, CANape®, Sysma® and Vision®, as well as with combustion analysis systems such as OBI‑M2.
The automation system also enables the replacement of internal ECU strategies with external Real-Time algorithms and the implementation of automated calibration procedures.
